It’s just ok. I’m glad someone is making movies of events in the 40’s. Leave it to Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. It’s not nearly as good as Band of Brothers and I’m disappointed in a few things though.
Mostly the CGI is just sloppy. Jurassic Park 30 years ago (1993) had better CGI.
For instance there was a B-17 (obviously) on approach that had to do a go-around, and it changed direction (up) like a Cessna 172 then accelerated like a Mustang, and climbed like an Alaskan Super Cub! I just didn’t have enough suspension of disbelief to let that one go.
Also, Band of Bros had interviews at the beginning of each episode, with the real life characters. And there was some narration during the episode, by one of the characters, and mostly about the characters. Neither of these features were included in this new show and it just doesn’t have the realism or the depth to really grab me and put me on the edge of my seat for the next episode.
It seems as though they were trying to quickly capitalize ($$$) on that kid who did such a good job playing Elvis.
All in all I feel Hanks and Spielberg dropped the ball on this one. Even Hanks’ Greyhound was 10x better.
