My 'Spiralux' electric fretsaw has been in constant use since 1985, with no maintenance except for periodically vacuuming-out the innards to get rid of the sawdust. My favourite soldering-iron for making fuel tanks etc. is a 90-watt Henley Solon, circa. 1935, that I inherited from my father. Despite its age, and the 240-volt mains supply we have over here, it hasn't yet electrocuted me, though I have had to rewire it a couple of times. So far, so good...
