Wish I was in the market for a Twister
« on: July 20, 2011, 11:39:25 AM »
I was at my local hobby shop and noticed they put a SIG Twister on sale. 50 bucks!
I wanted to get it just cause I thought it was a good price.

I think I might need help.  D>K

Nothing is getting cheaper, and it won't spoil sitting on the shelf! y1 y1 I have a healthy stash of kits, more than I could build in a couple of lifetimes, but my theory is if I want to build a particular airplane 5 years from now or next week, all I gotta do is pull it off the stack and not have to hunt it down or fuss over the price. I even have a couple of Twisters just in case I need them! If you have the extra money, GO FOR IT!

I'd say you need help if you don't get it. That's a good price considering you don't have shipping to add on it and like Dan said whenever you get the urge you'll have it to build. Kit bashing a Twister is only limited by your imagination, how about a twister bi-plane  S?P S?P

I learned a long time ago to get anything that I really wanted immediately or you could be really out of luck in a very short time. It doesn't cost you any money when it is sitting on the shelf and you forget the price really quickly. That is until you, if you wern't prudent and got one , go into sticker shock when you find one years later.

I'd say you better get back there and buy it. Even at full price the Twister is still one of the best "bang for the buck" designs out there, very good airplane.

They list at $70, I believe. Nope. Mistaken. On the Sig website it's $48.50 straight up. Which means that you'll have to look long and hard to find one for $50 without shipping. My local hobby shop has one. Amazing. There's been a list price sticker of $70 on it. But they discount. Twisters are definitely a classic. Competitive if straight, aligned, with reliable power in the nose. At least in Intermediate. Mike Palko flew his way into Advanced with one. Fox 35. Great for kit bashing. The Brodak profiles fly better, all things being equal. But they are more complicated to build. Planked leading edges. Fatter airfoils, wider flaps, truer stunt moments. My last Twister was half Fancherized. A doggy flier. O.K. Not great. Flew it in Nostalgia for years. Then Dan Banjok put it through an afternoon trimming session. Plane came alive.

You'er not in the market for a Twister??? Hmmmmm, you need rest. Actually here in the FTW/Dallas area Twisters range between $49 to $59 each. Along with Banshee's about the same price. I won a Twister at the RM Round Up in Houston this past May. It is in my kit stash. I will probably make a full bodied stunter out of it. I am basically done with profiles. I have a few RTFs that I have scratch built. And if I have not been out flying in a couple of months I will take one out for a ride just go get back in the groove again. Easy to start, adjust, service, and so forth. But I am partial to full fuselage planes.

Right on, Dennis! Preach it, Brother! I had to have my wife come read that because she believes I'm the only person that thinks that way. I get 'em when they're available so I don't have to hunt and pay more later.

Oh, and get the danged Twister Paul!!

I agree with the guys, Paul.  Doubt you could get one cheaper if you were to mail order/ebay, shipping would run it over that $50 I'm sure!  If you can spare the dough, go for it!  I know you have kit bashed a Twister before.

A Twister is always a good model to have around. ;D
