Wow, the little turnout for intermediate is disappointing.  Oh well, such is the times I guess.  Congrats to all who flew both beginner and intermediate!
Looks like little Samantha really was burning them in! H^^ H^^ H^^
I'm glad to see Trax was able to compete in spite of his judging c/l scale flying!  Way to go. H^^ H^^

Final scores beginner Jr/Sr:

Samantha put up some real impressive flights. This girl is maybe 12 years old at best and does this almost effortlessly. I really enjoyed watching all the juniors, especially the 5 young boys from Texas. All had great attitudes and I feel privileged to have been there to meet them. These young people are the future of our hobby, I hope they all keep participating.

Today (Monday) will be the first official day of stunt week with the appearance judging and pilot meeting this afternoon at the 180 building in Muncie.  I hope Steve and others will add photos from the judging floor of all the planes in their cleaned, waxed beauty.  The usual scenario for today is the morning practice session, then break by noon or so to ready the airplanes and get to the 180.  This consumes the rest of the afternoon.  Tonight most will dash out for evening practice.  A new player in the game is arriving.  According to the weather wonks high heat and humidity with indices in the 100's will pump in for the rest of the week.  This can plague planes and pilots.  We'll see what part it plays.

Yes this one is Kenny's.  There are two of his planes flying here this week.

Practice is going well although the winds are just a little above comfortable at times.  Not slowing anyone down.

Glad his problems happened during practice and not during officials.

Dave, after the Nationals looks like we may have to go help Ben Mills with his pattern.  They aren't that far from us.  Only a three hour drive.

No, I was asking about the beige and white one with SV-22 on the tail.   But the question was already answered.  I agree with Claudio, one of the most elegant looking stunters I have ever seen.  Might have to copy this scheme sometime.  Would like to know if it is a dope job or not, and also the name of the beige color.

I was thinking of the Dallas guys this last week when flying into DFW on a trip. Winds below 10 all week, high temps but not above 90. Looked as if they would get plenty of decent practice before the trip east.

The yellow and white  plane called the Caribbean Cruiser is my plane. Mike Starrett pretty much designed and helped me build it while teaching me to scratch build. Flies great. A real stable flyer.

Looks like I got lousy draws for my flights!!  Hahahahaha

Since I called and cancelled several weeks ago I'm surprised this happened!

Does this get factored into the seeding?  Obviously I'm not there and will not be flying.  I don't want a clerical error to fuss up my seeding.

Any idea who I talk to?

You not being here is the only thing that will factor into your seeding. You will get a 0 for this year so your name on the score board will not change anything. You were removed from the list but Dave had a few problems and had to restart the program. When it was noticed that you were still in the mix we were too far along to take you out. Taking you out would have added another hour to the 2.5 hour pilots meeting.

I got 18 appearance points, not too bad for 30 days work. After a few trim changes I am pleased with the progress of this model. I just wish I had more time on it. I have lots of pictures but internet is so slow I will have to wait till I get home. I think next year I will stay at a hotel with better internet connections.

uploading pictures is sloooow.

Here's the link to all the photos I took at the appearance judging. The photo's are FULL resolution but unedited. I've been trying to load them up as fast as I can. You will be able to get them beautifully edited from Gene Marted on a DVD for a few dollars. If you've never bought Gene's NATS Picture DVDs, you are missing some REALLY good quality photo edits(for better lighting, not retouching) and a lot of information to go along with them.

http://syampolsky.fotki.com/model-airplanes/2013-nats/

There are multiple pages(you'll have to click on page number on the bottom of that page). The load is still in progress so new photo's will keep appearing for the next 2-3 hours.

It was close to 100 today and humid. and it was dead air too. Classic models are compromised to begin with. Today's weather made it that much more difficult. The pilots just went one as if it no biggie. Amazing!
John brought his A-game today. He was clearly the dominant flier today.
Tom Dixon was really solid too, despite model wanting to wind up on the rounds.
Danny B was typical Dan Banjock. He flew old time and then walked the plane over and flew classic back to back. He had an OTS model without flaps so the pattern was compromised but BOY, does he have those shapes down pat! When I grow up, I want to fly shapes like Dan Banjock!
Mark McHenry's Crusaider looked AMAZING in person. He flew good stuff but gave up a couple of maneuvers. Once he polishes them up, WATCH OUT!
Samantha Hines was AWESOME! Here's a kid that wins the NATS Beginner and turns around and goes all out flying most of the pattern with an Oriental. What's impressive is that Sam sees shapes. it was obvious in her flying. Few pilots at her level are capable of seeing the shapes. She does. Matt & Ryan: you have some serious competition coming up. Better shape up or Sam will take you out!
I had also a revelation today: Olympic looks great in the air. I've shied away from the model because I thought it did not look look "stunt" good. Until today. Allen Brickhaus' Olympic looked REALLY GOOD on the lines! If you dismissed Olympic as "not cool", I suggest you take a nother look. The model will present well to the judges.

This way minimizes the weather and judging variation over each class.  That is important.  Having judges not judge "according to class"  might be nice, but would have no effect.

This is a result of adding "Expert".  The old program doesn't accommodate it.  David and Bob were using a cumbersome workaround to get the seeding to come out.  The consequence of not starting over is a lopsided circle distribution.
