This one really hits home. John was just a great, kind, humble, loyal man, and a sincerely good friend. We spoke at length about two weeks ago, and he told me that he was hopeful that there might be something that would put his cancer in remission. He was even enthusiastic about possibly getting back to building and flying...
From our conversation I could tell that John had been doing a lot of soul searching, and he seemed to be in a peaceful place. I want to thank all those who contributed to John's Go-Fund-Me fund; he acknowledged that it was a huge help in his life and that he was very grateful to all those who contributed. Thanks also to Rich Peabody for alerting us that there was such a fund for John.
Can't you just see John walking out onto that big flying field in the sky with his Chevelle in one hand and a jug of fuel in the other and getting in line to fly with Bob Gieseke, Bob Palmer, George Aldrich, Lew McFarland, Gene Schaffer, Ed Southwick, and all the other greats who have passed from this existence?
Rest in God's Good Peace good and faithful servant - Bob Hunt
