Saito 56 fix

I have a new saito 56 and the fuel nipple is in the way of the fire wall engine mount . I am thinking about repositioning the nipple to different location “The black dot in the picture.” Now I have to find out the thread size. Would any one by chance know what it is?

Can't help on the thread other than what you probably you already know it's metric. If your needle can come out the other side you can turn the intake around but you probably already know that also. On RC carbs the spray bar has a hole that lines up with the inlet, might be the same with the CL intake.  If it's the same you might need to remove the spray bar and reinstall it so the hole lines up with your new inlet location. Just guessing, never had the CL 56 intake apart.

Might look at using an 8-32 pressure fitting, and tap that into a new hole, thus eliminating the need for metric taps

Make sure the ID is at least the same as the Saito. Some pressure fittings have pretty small holes and the last thing you want is fuel restrictions.

I found out the size of the threads It’s 3.5x30 MM.

I picked up a 3.5 MM tap the other day and have taped the venturi for a new position of the fuel nipple. I had to drill into the spray bar it now has three holes in it not much left. I also  drilled the spray bar with a #56 drill. I used a OS pressure fitting with a cap to block the old hole I plan to cut of a 3.5 MM bolt and plug it later. I plan to put a O ring on the aluminum plug to help seal it up a little tighter.

It put the fuel line close to the intake manifold  but it would still work. The other side is clear and out in the open and easy to get too.

No I have not but you got me off my duff and I drug my Time Machine out of the attic. Ill get some run time and some air time also.

It Pays to test a engine in a old reliable proven plane. I ran my Saito 56 today twice on the ground as slow rich as I could. Two flights at 8,000 same lap time from beginning to end each cut off was about a half lap, no runaways. Did a few loops squares inverted flying. That old Time Machine goes where ever you point it . I might just leave it it in and use my 50 Saito in the T-Rex.This 56 was the easiest to adjust and start then any new previous Saito's The new muffler is a little quieter then the older ones. Im happy !
