Title: Current sensitivity setting - is very sensitive to low for Stunt?
Post by: Dennis Toth on September 27, 2020, 07:58:37 AM
Having toasted a motor on a nose over I looked at my ESC current cut-off setting and I have been using Normal. My reason was I thought that if I went to a sensitive and had a minor grass prop buzz on takeoff it might kick off. Since the normal setting proved to be to high to save the motor on the nose over I have move to sensitive setting and been flying the ship with no problem. Question is can I go to very sensitive setting and will that still have enough head room in current spike for hard maneuvers we fly in stunt without cutting out the motor on high amps?

Hi Dennis,
Just drifting through the forums looking for unanswered posts.

I'm just a sport flyer who occasionally enters the odd competition just so no one else has to come last.  LL~ I fly smaller to medium stuff, biggest is 57" I think with an AXI 2826. I only fly Castle Creations and Hubin Timers. (Simply because that's what I went with originally and have never found a reason to change).

I have always set current limiting to sensitive and have never had a motor cut on me in normal operations, even with a bit of grass cutting on take off. I think it only becomes a factor if you are running an ESC which might be marginal for the application.

Others mileage might vary but that's my experience.

TTFN
John.

I can backup John.  I too run only Huben & Castle.  I set on sensative and have never lost a motor or had a premature cutoff due to that setting.  I have cut the diameter of several props on takeoff with no stopping and have had two pancakes("I hate it when she does that") that did cut off the motor with no damage (to the motor).

Can't hurt.
