Enya .29 5224 prop size
« on: July 15, 2015, 09:03:05 PM »
Hey guys,

I have an old Bi-slob that was given to me that has an Enya .29 on the nose.

I have stared at it long enough now and I am going to fly this thing. I ran it with an MA 10x6, but was wondering if that is the best choice. Seems a little down on power to have this thing hanging on the prop.

Hi Ron,

I have some 9 1/2 X 6 petal blade George Aldrich props that I use on my .29s.  So far they have been a pretty good choice for all of my .29s.  I would try trimming the 10 X ^ to a 9 3/4" first and then 9 1/2".  The MAS props are pretty cheap and you will get a good look at how prop diameter affects the model.

Or try a 10x5, and needle it to run a bit faster.  Bi Slobs need such an odd engine run I'm not sure if it'll do but -- try it.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I used to run one in an All American Sr. for OTS. 9X6 Topflite worked well. Needed the short prop smaller diameter prop because of ground clearance issues.  8)
