What is a good .049 engine?
« on: October 02, 2006, 12:25:06 PM »
I know this forum is focused on competition but I am looking for a good .049 engine for a Bill Osborne Platter.  Platters are cheap and fast to build, and easy to fly.  It is a good demonstration plane to take along when I go flying my regular stuff.

I am interested in something besides a Cox or an OK Cub engine since their manufacturing days are numbered.  The Norvel is an excellent engine but probably a little hot for my needs.  And, I don't really want something with a specialized glow plug.

I have seen the Brodak .049.  It looks a little heavy but I really don't know anything about it.  I know less about the Fox .049 but those two engines are in the ball park for me.

Any recommendations?

Bill - there are two Brodak .049s - the MK I and MK II. While both are intended for sport flying, the MK II is a bit more robust, weighing the same as the Tee Dee.

You can check out my post in the "Product Review" section of this site.

For price and availability, you can contact Brodak.
