Where's the best location to put a pressure tap on a tongue muffler?

Elwyn; I don't know if its the best place, but I locate mine a little over half way back in either the front or back side of the muffler. Seems to work OK there. It is easy to check with the engine running, it should lean out when you pull the pressure line to the tank.

I agree, doesn't really matter a lot.  Theoretically there would be a slight increase in the static pressure at the outboard end due to wave reflection.  It would probably take a pretty sensitive meter to check the difference.  I'd just put it wherever was the most convenient for access and fit when installed.
