Tom Lay OS46VF question

I haven't run this engine in awhile. Can someone tell me a good starting pipe length for a Tom Lay set up OS46VF? I can't remember. The pipe is an Eather "60" sized pipe. I've ran the combination before, but it's been awhile.

Hi Randy I don't know if it helps but I run my Tom Lay 40 VF at 18.5" and launch about 10800K

Larry,

Not the same. I run my OS40VF (box stock) at 18.5" on a Aeropipes "51" pipe with launch rpm at around 10,800 and it's great. The Tom Lay 46VF is a different animal. I think the pipe lenght I used before was about 17.5" with a launch rpm of about 9800, but I'm not sure. That's why I asked.

Randy,
Start long and move it in. It won't get hot that way. 17.5 is what I used to run on the OS 40, OS 46 and T&L 6.5. Interestingly.
I use about 18.25 on the PA 61, but it is so dependent on the engine's other factors, so I'd go long and creep up on it.

I don't run a pipe, but my comment is to use a logbook with pertinent info so it doesn't get lost....    I can't remember yesterday, so GOTTA have some notes   y1  HB~>

I usually do that, but in this case, the plane only got about 5 flights on it before I gave it up for a loss. Great hanger queen, but that was about it. But the engine ran great.
