anyone know what the excuse was for building the 1/4 shaft ( propnut ) Single Ball race ( bronze bush front ) G 15 / 19 . ?
COMBAT . !
have one or two , and told they are not that uncommon . Wondering what purpose they were contrived for .
Presumeably something involveing hitting the deck . as theyre beefed up , up front there .

I expected the 19 would have two ball bearings. Looks like I was mistaken.

I expect pressure to be the same as most other 19's at that time. I used them for FF and liked the 1/4 shaft better than the smaller shaft version. It got hard to find props with the smaller hole. Also the small shaft version was damaged easier. The motor in the picture is RC and they were hard on the small shaft.

I have 2 of the G15/19's and both have two ballraces but the 5mm shaft. I recall some talk elsewhere about the 1/4" shaft and bushed front. Concensus seemed to be that the crankcase couldn't be machined out enough to take a larger ball race and that a 1/4" shaft was needed for a flywheel for car use.

I fought an uphill battle to use six G15/15's in F2D. The front bearings were weak and I could never find an upgrade. So I just replaced 'em with the same junk until Cox Conquests and Nelsons took over. I would have been happy to have the G15's set up like Fox Combat Mark V's with a good read bearing an nothing up front.
Incidentally, the 19 size used for the old AMA Class A FF until they standardized to the FAI standard .1525.
