Sorce for piston rings
« on: November 08, 2019, 10:59:33 AM »
Since Frank Bowman quit making rings, who do we turn to?

Phil,  this is who purchased Frank's business:

Webpage: https://rmjmachineworx.com/
Bjorn Baal: rmjmachineworx@gmail.com

I have not seen any of Bjorn's work, I believe there are people on the forum who have.  Some of them were not impressed as I recall but it's not a lot of money to risk for our size engines.

George, I do appreciate the information. I will give him a try and maybe salvage an engine.
                                                    Thanks, Phil

Good luck and please let us know how it turns out. Just wish my camera could take close up pics of these rings I'm looking at.

I have seen some Baal rings and quality seems to be more or less same than with Bowman's rings.
Bowman's rings, in my opinion, were unusable if bought separately, but each time I sent him a piston/cylinder group for making AND fitting the ring, quality was OK. In the end the best way was to figure out how to make them by myself.
I guess that applies to Baal stuff too. L

Phil, what engine is this for? Randy Smith has rings for some engines.
