prop extension for Saito .72
« on: January 07, 2007, 07:39:47 AM »
Does anyone make a prop shaft extension for a Saito .72? I am putting it in a Strega and want to move the motor 3/4 in aft to help CG issues. It will have to accept a jam nut and I plan on pinning the extension, spinner and prop as well.

Might check with Fox and see if they make one for the M7X1 Saito shaft.

nope, no help to be had there. I have 2 Brodak extensions, 1/2 ande 3/4 inch. I need the nut and jam nut to make it happen. Will probably have them machined locally if I cannot find some.

Go to eBay and find item # 150034647377  these are 7X1 metric taps. With the right tap wouldn't be too difficult to make your own adaptor..

I've made a couple of shaft extensions for the 56. Same thimble (though you do have to enlarge the hole slightly) with what I called a 2-way nut. The nut on one end that reaches into the thimble and an extension on the other that will allow a Veco type spinner to attach without a coupling. Looks like a 2.25" long piece of steel tube that has a nut in the middle and is threaded down the middle. 7x1m on one side and 1/4-28 on the other. I've made them for some others in the Northwest.
