OS.29 Twin Exhaust Engine?

    In one of my last Craig's List purchases, I acquired the engine in the subject  line, an OS.29 twin exhaust. It has the serial number40440 stamped on the case behind the front bearing. I think it's a plain bearing engine. In addition to the twin exhaust, it has what looks like a rather large intake, so I'm guessing it was intended to be used in racing of some kind. The front bearing boss area is kind of long, so that it makes me think this may have originated as a spark engine, and later produced as a glow engine, and maybe dates from the 50's? I don't know how to post pics, but if some one wants me to email some to them I can do that. What can anyone tell me about the engine?

The big trick to posting pictures here is the size.  I use an image reducing program on my phone called "reduce photo size" (what a name!)  On a computer you can use software that can open and save to usually reduce the image size.  I find that 800x450 or 450x800 is a good size for detail and allowing 4 images in a post.

After the image is sized, click on "additional options" right below the text box you type in and it has a "browse" button after the word "attach:" Find the reduced image (put it somewhere you will find it) and then it uploads when you post.

According to the OS Timeline ( http://www.osengines.com/history/ostimeline01.html ) it's either the 1949 29 or the 1950 New 29. The only difference I can pick out is that the New 29 has a couple of fins below the exhaust ports. As far as I know they were simple plain bearing sport engines and only glow. Predecessor to the Max-1 of a few years later.

Dan, I had one in a Stunt Wagon 30 and I can assure it wasn't a racing engine! We ran a 9 X 6 on it and it flew fine.
