How to make head Gaskets
« on: January 11, 2020, 09:03:14 AM »
Over in the WTB there was a thread about needing head gaskets. I posted this over there and decided to post it here also.
"Head shims are easy to make.  I have used aluminum flashing sold at Lower and Home depot. around $3 for small section and you can make 30 Head Gaskets from it.
Use a compass to cut inside circle and scissors to cut out side.  Use any pointed metal object in place of pencil. After the first one it gets very easy."

There are many variations on this but it is not hard or time consuming.

Of all the neat stuff Jim Lee sells, he has two tools, one large and one small, for doing just that. It takes a standard #11 hobby knife blade. I got the large one because it will still go small enough for model airplane engines and goes big enough to do base gaskets for vintage dirt bikes. Very handy tool and well made.
  Type at you later,
