good choice or not
« on: August 17, 2006, 01:16:33 AM »
dont know if this will make a good one or not. anyone?

all i remember about this engine that we spent alot of time and money on it.

it has 2-4 flights on it( dads se5a bit the dust due to hard head)

it didnt impress me as being a  full fledged teenage combat junkie i needed all the horses per hour i could get.

i do remember it would pop the #%^& out of me when id start it for him.

engine specs

 S.T. .35 stunt

  hemi/button head

  chrome sleve

oil groved piston (notice we didnt cut groves in wrist pin area)also top edge has been relived

case is machined to lower sleve and port timing and true it up.

i plan on using this engine and have know idea what to expect

Thanks
  David

Hello all!

I used one of them several years ago, pulling a Nimrod (Jim Mannall design) and a Nobler.
VERY sweet engine, delightful break (one of the mildest I´ve heard).
Mine pulled a 10x6 at 8.500 rpm (just in the edge of 4-2 break) on the ground and was enough for a 38 oz model.
Fuel 25% castor 5% nitro.
My personal opinion, very good choice for any classic design.

Regards from Spain. y1

Hi David,

While I have seen several of the "stunt" (baffle piston) ST 35s run (like yours) I don't have a clue as to how it will run with the mods that have been done to yours.  But taking a guess, I would believe it would be exceptional!

The "stock" ones are really good.  Even the flat top piston ones will run a pretty good 4-2 with the right venturi and shims.

Go for it!
