Hi,

      I'm about to install two Brodak wide wedge, uniflow, tubes forward tanks, one in a kitted Smoothie and the other in a Top Flight Nobler.  I have a question.  Is there any preference as to where to have the fill tube and the overflow tube exit the fuselage.  Some setups I've considered are:

Fill tube out the top - and overflow tube out the bottom.   Or:

The fill tube out the top and overflow tube out the side.    Or:

The fill tube out the side and the overflow tube out the bottom.

I understand that the overflow tube must be capped during flight.

What kind of setups have you found that really work well.

By the way, I'm jettisoning two magnum style tanks. One already broke on the inside of the tank.  The other one is still intact.

The standard setup that most contest flyers seem to use is on the outside of the body but on the inside of the circle above the tank.Connect on inside with a piece of fuel tubing. Over flow exit bottom and cap during flight.The copper tubing on the out side of the body can be short,3/8" long.In this picture you can see the vent above the muffler.

Hi Allen,

Ed's picture shows it well.  Find a piece of weed eater line that fits inside the 1/8" OD copper tube and use it inside the copper tube once you heat it to make the bends.  The tubing will not kink then.

Also, solder a washer to the tube to glue to the inside of the fuselage.
