« on: October 05, 2006, 05:42:25 AM »
Hello all.
Iīve the oportunity to obtain a good price Como 51 engine in very good condition.
I have check itīs a baffle ported engine and suspect can be a good stunt power plant.
Have someone experience with these engines in stunt use?
Thanks in advance.

The "word" that I got from all of the respected engine guys here is that they should be avoided...

Manuel,

I have a couple Como engines and have heard about the same as Peabody.  It's primarily due to the weight, however, if a Como 51 is used for CL then it is better to use the baffled 51.

Hi Manuel

I ran several of them years ago, They are  very good  stunt  engines. I used one in a  Magnum for several years. The baffle piston version is the good  one. The flat top  loop scavaged one  is  not.  Look inside the  exhaust port, if it has  a  baffle on the piston, it will run just  like a  ST-60. I ran a .179  true venturie and  a  ST 60  tube  muffler.

Regards
Randy

Hi Manuel

I used  a  Bolly 12.5 x 5.5  2  blade   and  also  a  Bolly 12 x 6.5 n  3 blade  with  very good  results. very nice  4-2  , 10% nitro  22% oil.
The motor is about the same  weight as the  new G-51

Is the venturi insert dimensions same as the new G51. In this case, si possible for you to supply me some true venturis for them?
