Toronto Contest - September 23, 2012
« on: September 25, 2012, 06:00:32 AM »
The anti-climax of the eight event CanAm F2D Championship took place as expected.  Pat MacKenzie won based on his commanding lead after the first seven events.  Congraduations again, Pat.

Ivan MacKenzie won the final event and moved up to second place in the CanAm final reckoning.

The wind gradually changed the circle from a half-lap to a third and ultimately a quarter.  The collisions were LOUD.

Sorry 'but the long range attempt at photography.  I was fully employed at the logger.

As much as I hate resurrecting old threads, is that at the old field at Etobicoke? I remember many a great contest there back in the 70's. If that place is still operating I would love to come up and fly there once again.

That  ended when a fast went thru the midway . Shut offs sure make combat dull .Much safer, but dull .

That was such a great venue...combat with spectators. One of my best combat moments ever happened there when I bellcranked Ross Melhuish at 12 -O-Clock high. I remember him picking up his engine while the peices of his ship were still falling like confetti. Ross was the one of the best I ever faced in the circle and always a fantastic sportsman. Win or lose I always thought a match with him was special. He flew clean and he flew well. One of the best.

Were there two or more Ross's?

I think I made it to maybe one CND contest.

Also one or two at the DeHaviland factory before the Etobikoke venue.  Somehow Etobikoke was absorbed into Toronto, something that never happens to US suburbs.
