what do you use to recover an f2d airplane.  I thied the thick red stuff with mixed results.

clear monokote works by isn't cheap.

3mil doculam?  Is that thick enough and do you need extra glue?

I use 1.5 mill on my foamies and 1/2 a airplanes.

Dave ,

Try Yaro at www.aerohobby.ca I think he sells Russian covering . We used to use type d Mylar . Phill's SLC covering might work or if your in a hurry some have tried the stuff from the florist . Use clear - the darker the colour the more the wings warp . The next problem is finding a good contact cement that won't eat the foam leading up edge .

Good luck,
Brad

I've been using PVC. It has no glue so I spray the air frame with 3m77. I get the stuff cheap on ebay. Its not as tough as the Russian covering, but its good enough that I still use it on competition planes. It uses way less temp and shrinks 40%. Easy to use and easy to cover tips with. You can cover normal or do it as a bag. Use a hair drier, not a heat gun. there's a vid on my blog here.   http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=387956
