Combat lines?

I picked up some lines at the NW regionals and am currious what they are.  They measure .015 and appear to be 3 strand.  Very stiff, but they feel slicker than the  normal braided cables.  Can someone enlighten me??

Probably Russian carbon steel lines.   They cut right thru stainless in a line tangle.

They might also be British Laystraight or Staystraight lines.

While they might have some advantages in certain line tangle situations, they don't lay or stay very straight after that sort of confrontation.  I bought a few sets went I was over there, but never tried to get more.

where did you pick them up from? or who?
that might help determine. But my opinion is that they are most likely laystraight lines, but  mostly they are used for stunt if thats what they are

Russians and Ukrainians sell these lines pretty cheap.  Try ViKo: http://shop.viko-shop.com/index.php?cPath=33 .  I got some stunt lines from them, but the size was wrong.  PAW in England also makes them, but they charge a lot of money.  You can get them in the US from Eric Clutton, Dr. Diesel, under the name Staysrate.  I used .015 Staystrates for stunt for awhile.  They are stiffer in tension than seven-strand cables, but a little difficult to keep straight.

Mark, I got them from the dumpster at the regionals.  Just cut off the ends for evidence.  Howard, they are really stiff, feel almost like they might be solids.  It might be interesting to get them wound up on a reel and keep them there. Guess I'll just stick to the same old braided lines.  Thanks.
