Shawn,

Pat Johnston's new P51D was published in a Model Aviation this past summer--don't remember which issue.  It is a little larger than the RSM kit of his earlier P51.

Cheers,
Jim

Yea, Pat's version is very cool, also. I've been tempted to build one of my own.

Pat Johnson's Mustang: Model Aviation June 2007.  Similar Mustang kit available from RSM.  y1

Hi Shawn - My guess is that you'd be happier with either a Veco or Kenhi Mustang, as either fits you.  (Shawn is about 12 years old, a full size stunter would be too much in any wind.)  I have old kits of both, let me know Thursday if you'd like to get together and draw up a set of templates.  Tom H.

Hi Shawn,

Follow ol' Tom's advice since you are near him. y1  He's a pretty good guy, over all. ;D

I like the Kenhi Mustang a *little* better after seeing the plans from Randy Smith.  I think the wing looks like it would be a *little* better flier than the Veco.  Haven't built a Kenhi, but I did have a Veco Mustang.  That wing was kinda thin and I felt it wouldn't tolerate much excess weight.

Plus, Tom will do a great job in helping you with engine runs and such!

I'm surprised that no one has suggested the Sig Mustang kit.  Built as in the kit it is no world beater, but it is a far better flyer than either the Veco or Kenhi.  It flys well with a strong 35 and with some replacement of plastic parts with balsa it can be improved.  They are out of production, but lots of us still have kits laying around.

Being in the Classic section, I think we all were giving Classic plane suggestions.

IIRC, the Sig Mustang is just outside the Classic rules.  ?? ?? ??

With the *Lee Family* modifications, it is a great flying smaller plane!
