Rayette
« on: February 01, 2011, 12:51:41 PM »
A few years ago, a gentleman named Wilson Elliot passed away down in Newport News.  It seems he had an extensive control line collection from his younger days, and the Brainbusters club saw to it that his old models were liberated from the attic and spared the dumpster.  The long and short of it is that I ended up with this Gialdini Rayette.  Some new wheels, a Tower 40 engine, and some patches (Wilson actually covered the wing in brown butcher paper(!)) and this past Sunday his Rayette took flight for the first time in some thirty-odd years.  I never met or even heard of Wilson, but, brown paper covering or not, the man could build and trim.  His Rayette flew exceptionally well, even at 50 ounces ready to fly.  The design is so good that if I want to build another profile plane, the Rayette would have to get serious consideration-it flys so well.

Hi Steve,

Great talking with you just now!

The Rayette just might be a "proof" of some of the things we were discussing. ;D

Seems Allen Brickhaus has been pleased with his. y1
