Ty
I am really astonished at how much I like the all-silver PT - would have never believe a PT would ever look so good in anything besides the blue & yeller.

The PT's were fabric colored, right?  ..and most likely BRUSH painted? ..and probably full of streaks and stuff, and the silver would not hide it any better in full size than in a modle.  Nope, I think a "perfect" silver finish would be a little surrealistic.

Its looking very good my friend, is it going to VSC?

That realy looks amazing! With all the chalenges I've had with mine (operator era) it's nice to see one finished. But it makes me want to strip mine and start over.    John

Ty,
I'm going to do mine as a PT-26 Canadian. How can you lose. It has a canopy, is orange/yellow different decals and someone is sure to ask what is it.
I realize that it won't be classic legal but as I don't compete is isn't a problem. Funny though, outside of the canopy it is the same plane externally

It would be Classic Legal. There's no rule in the Classic regs that allows DQ for any airplane deviation or infraction. Points could be deducted from the  "Fidelity Points", except that nobody seems to use them. So, maybe a point off the Appearance Points...OR NOT! Personally, I would not take any points off for adding the canopy, and MIGHT give extra points, if it's well done. I think most Judges would share my view. It's not like you're restyling it into a Yak9 or something rude like that!  H^^ Steve

I agree with Steve...you are not fundamentally changing the design, you are simply enhancing the "appearance" not the flyability.

Dennis L:

I will add my encouragement to the others.  Your PT-26 "modification" is consistant with the kind of mods you might have made back when the PT-19 was first published.  It also is not a "cheat" like an oversized stab, thick wing or what-not.

I have spoke to Dave and asked him if he ever built one as a PT 26 and his answer was yes.
He stated he got tired putting tricked out cockpits in them.
Based on his comments there should be no argument about it being classic legal.

Leo...I know your eyesight isn't the best. Maybe a magnifier would help? You reallyneed to read the posts above mine before you leap on me. If you don't, I'm gonna sit on you in Tucson, instead of drink your beers.  LL~ Steve
