Y'all are probably tired of seeing this model in various stages of completion but here it is finished, at last. First flights today, pretty much flew the pattern right off the board.  A little flap tweak and remove some nose weight and go for it. Engine still needs some tuning, a Magnum .36, still experimenting with props. All-up weight is 44 ounces, not bad for a kit built Olympic.  

Pete,  love your Olympic.  Sand paper and watching finish coats does help keep the weight down, doesn't it?  Mine was built from kit also.  The one kit I had left is now on it's way to the NATS for some beginner to enjoy.  Did I say that is a gorgeous paint scheme?

Thanks All, great pic icon Doc. Yes, use lots of sandpaper and building with lots of air helps keep the weight down. Also, this was one of the first Olympic lazar cut kits from Brodak and the wood was excellent. Fuselage gear, no tail wheel strut and light weight hardware (nylon 4/40 screws where I could get away with them) help also. FWIW: Mag .36 is to be replaced by an Aero-Tiger, you need all the power you can get when flying at 5,000'msl. 

Hey Kim, good to hear from you. Yes, it is a Ro-Jett muffler. Weighs 1.1 ounces. It has been swapped out for an Aero Products muffler, also 1.1 ounces. The main difference is that due to the design, the Aero Products muffler has a larger exhaust intake opening will be freer flowing. As far as the paint scheme goes, it is the 4th plane (Vector, Magnum, Buccaneer and now this one) I have painted with a similar scheme. It seems to work well on a variety of designs. Lettering is painted with a stencil ordered through Jim Snelson at CLC.

Thanks Doc, that was the plan. Actually though, the model that gave me the idea for this kit-bash was John Sunderland's "Chevelle" stunter as published in FM. A much bigger plane but has the same "vibe". 

Yup, seems to happen a lot on my models...and for Clint: Mackey?, maybe.
