Mr. Louis Grondal
« on: March 24, 2007, 07:36:20 PM »
Here is a picture, courtesy of Bruno, showing Mr. Grondal with his #5 Nobler.  We have come to know this as the "Grondal Nobler".  Mr. Grondal told me that he called the first one his "AMA Special" since it was designed to fly the AMA pattern at the WC's.  He also told me that he built his first one from a Green Box Top Flite kit.

Het, guys, oyu do realize that this is the pilot and plane that won the first two "Official FAI World F2B Championships", right?  No comments?

Based (and first one built from) the Top Flite Green Box Nobler kit and powered by Fox 35.

Pretty neat, I think!

I've found another one from the Criterium of Aces, Genk (B), 1961 (seems to be a different model/finish than the previous 2):

But I DO play Stunt and I DO fly Bluegrass.

Thanks, Bruno!  If we could only see the number on the rudder/fin!  ;D

I do believe Louis must have numbered each of his planes on the rudder, at least it looks that way from the other pictures.

One more picture of Mr. Grondal's design; this time three modern versions. From left to right:
Geza Egervary, Christoph Holtermann, Claus Maikis.

Gee,

Why does it look soooo much like a T-Bird?  The elliptical tips possibly?

Well, I bet he flew it really good too!

Well...................... Mr. Grondal DID win the first two Official FAI F2B World Championships! **)
