Has anyone out there started or finished their "Colossus"? I started mine last Monday. That is a big airplane, at least to me. So far I have the top and bottom blocks tacked on and the carving and sanding of them almost finished. The cowl is being most of the fun. ST .51 for an engine.

Ty,
My kit is just sitting there looking at me ... and will for a bit. I have an ST60 and and Magnum 53 that are candidates for power. And you're right, it's a BIG plane.

>>I stood it on its wing tips and it is almost as tall as me.<<
I thought the wingspan was more than 40". Huh.
Looks really good. I may build mine this winter.

Ty, don't hurt Randy's knee caps too much the next time you see him. The plane looks great in bare bones. If you need someone to finish it and fly it, send it my way. DOC Holliday

I have not yet met Ty in person, but I know now, I will just look for the Colussus sized individual!

Dennis,
Naw, Ty is a good sized guy. He just spent too much time with Pat Johnston, Al Culver and Bloody Bob Parker in his youth.

FWIW, Ty, Walter powered the prototype with a PA .61SE, and thought it was a great combination.

Ty,
Gordan Delany powered his with an ST51. It flew great.
If you decide on black, first make sure the body work is perfect (nothing shows mistakes like black) and two, bring a blanket when you fly it. Sitting out in the sun does unfortunate things to black.
