Additional Classic legal Models by Jack Sheeks
« on: December 25, 2007, 05:34:50 PM »
Just received a call from Jack Sheeks as he had seen a list of his designs that were Classic Legal but it was missing 4 of his designs.

The missing designs were published in Flying Models Magazine.

Bent Wing Stuka Stunt in Aug./Sept. 63
Ladonna in Feb./Mar. 64
Beechcraft Stagger Wing stunt June /July 64 and
Skyrocket Stunt, twin engine, Aug./Sept. 64.

The full size plans for the first three were lost in an office fire at Flying Models and you would need to get a copy of the magazine and visit you local Kinko's to get them blown up.  The January issue of Control Line World has an article about Jack written by his wife Shirley and lists all of Jacks designs but it is missing the Stagger Wing Beech.

When you have designed as many planes as Jack it is hard to keep them all straight.

Clancy,

My original post for the Jack Sheeks award at VSC had all those airplanes.

The ad that is now in its 2nd month in Flying Models, understandably only includes the Sheeks airplanes that are currently available from the FM plans service. We can be thankfull that Frank Fanelli at FM is devoting a half page to advertise the awards at no cost to us.

Following is the original posting about the awards. You will also see that some of my wording is used in the recent FM ad:

Jack Sheeks is perhaps the most prolific designer of Stunt, Scale and RC airplanes of our life time. In addition he is one of the nicest people on the face of the earth.

During the Classic Era, (1953 to the end of 1969) Jack published, designed, approx. 20 CL Stunt airplanes. From that time to the present, Jack has published 27 more airplanes in Flying Models alone!

John Miller and I are coordinating plans to present a perpetual award for the Best Jack Sheeks Classic Stunter starting at the Vintage Stunt Championships, VSC-XX, 2008. Jack Sheeks has agreed to be the judge for this award.

In addition there will be an award for the highest placing Jack Sheeks airplane!

Following is a list of Sheeks airplanes that are eligible for Classic Stunt. This list will be updated if more information becomes available.

I want to thank Jack Sheeks, and Frank Fanelli of Flying Models for there help in compiling this information.

Special thanks also to Robin Sizemore, and the Cholla Choppers.

Here is the Stuka from 63, probably useful at this size should anyone choose to.

I was able to pick up the Stuka, Skyrocket, Stuntliner (swept wing) and Staggerwing from AMA plan service.  They also list LaDonna.

I think they have a FIRST CLASS operation there - suggest you check thme out for most anything ever published!
