UK Carrier - Blackburn Skua ditches backwards!
« on: August 12, 2013, 04:09:09 PM »
Hello from the UK! Here's a short clip of rather unique landing at our Leicester meeting on the 4th August. The pilot had already placed 3rd with his Sea Hurricane but then decided to try his .15-powered all-sheet Skua in wet and gusty conditions... enjoy!

Yep that happens once in a while, even in the good ole USA.

Mike, was this E-Powered?  The video seems to be way to quiet for IC.

No E-power. It was a .15 and muffled probably as that is the norm in the UK.

The Skua was indeed i/c powered but only by a weedy and well-muffled Taipan .15. It was the quietest and smallest engine at the meeting and it was very brave of George to fly it in the gusty and wet conditions! In contrast, I had the privilege of running the loudest and fastest with a Webra .61 in an MO-1...but also managed to take a chunk of Kevlar laminate out of the deck and turn a 3-blade prop into a 1-blade with my first landing which ended upside down - zero landing points! I'm hoping the pix taken by the other flyers of my barely controlled arrival don't make it to the forum...

Picture of the bird will follow when it's been approved
