Dumb question (because I could cipher it out from the rules) -- the 60' line length is canopy to handle, not clip to clip.  Yes?

The regulation line length is 60 ft - 0 in (-0"/+6"), measured from the airplane centerline to the centerline of the handle grip.

The stunt guys really mess people up this eye-to-eye and clip-to-clip jibberish.  True length has always been from the thrust centerline to either the centerline of the grip or the inboard face of the grip. 

In FAI I successfully lobbied for a rule that uses the inboard face of the grip because it can be found without question.

And besides -- the inboard face of the grip is what contacts the pilot's hand.

Try and find the center of a J.Roberts or a biased stunt handle.

On the J. Roberts handle I reference the center of the grip in-line with the throttle line. It really isn't that difficult.

     Geewizzz guys, I have never had a hard time measuring lines on a carrier plane 3-line or whatever. Do you suppose your maybe squeezing this topic a little to tight? No wonder people don't fly this event, its to dam complicated who would have thought.  Eric
