Leadout position calculator
« on: May 09, 2012, 09:15:44 AM »
Some of the Carrier guys may not be aware of a Windows App I wrote some time ago that will calculate the optimum leadout position for your high speed run. I basically put a user interface on Pete Soules fabulous work, Pete was a racer and came up with the formulas to calculate a leadout position that keeps the airplane tangent with the circle in reference to the airplanes CG. This just happens to also be the optimum position for a stunt ship and trimming my stunters is why I initially got involved.

In finishing up the latest FJ-4 I will use this to set the most forward position of the slider and be confident that the leadouts will exit at a location that will give me the best high speed possible. No trial and error.. calculate, set and forget...

The app can be downloaded from the Tulsa Gluedobbers site and it's free. If you would like to see under the hood (so to speak) it includes a couple PDF files Pete wrote that explains the inner working of his formulas.

There is also a similar program on the NCLRA web site.
