Hi Roger,

The yellow prop is a Kavan job... 9 x 6... purchased from Hobby Lobby ages ago.. not sure if available any longer... they do tend to break at the tips. A few of the chaps here are using Master Airscrew props and although they seem stiffer and more brittle seem to hold up very well.

Hi Roger,

The model is a J Roberts Corsair from back inthe 70's - a recovery job (I will post some pics shortly).

If you are aware of the J Roberts series of kits from that era you will probably agree that you didn't need to have any building credentials.. you simply assembled the model as the quality was unsurpassed.. beautifully engineered non laser-cut kits !

The Corsair wing construction uses a variety of precision hardwood formers with all the correct angles especially for the gull wing.

The model is powered by a venerable HP40 - more for nostaligic reasons as these were the standard donk back in 70's and 80's... plenty of grunt very light and cheap (ebay) for the quality.  HP's also have links back to Paul Bugl, legendary F2C engine designer/manufacturer.

If you mean CLP-29, thats a profile stunter with a 55" span. Thats not the J Roberts version. Brodak only shows the Skyraider and Bearcat from that J Roberts/Smurthwaite series which were flown in rofile carrier.

Hi Roger,

Wayne is correct.

However, Brodak did sell a J-Roberts version of the Corsair (branded as Brodak) very early on.

I suspect that manufacturing costs of the Corsair far outweighed the return on investment and were subsequently discontinued.

Perhaps Brodak used left-overs from GS/J-Roberts era?... You will very occasionally see these kits on ebay.

The Skyraider and Bearcat are essentially the same kit.

i looked at my plans again and it sure looks like your restore . my wing is 52" the #1 rib is a hooked type ribi have a line of stars are in thelft. hand bottom corner. rt. hand elevator has the horn mount with 2 big holes in it. center of plan on rt. shows a stars sq. and says  enjoy your investment     do you think that this is the brodak corsair that hes selling?

Doubt it.. the GS/J-Roberts Corsair (designed for Navy Carrier) had a 40" wingspan. The current Brodak Corsair is designed for stunt and has the larger wingspan.

I have one of those kits NIB. It is kit #JR-1, WS 40", length 29", WA 315 sq. "Part of the "J.Roberts Series".
In looking in the Brodak Catalog #15A, P#62 is the full size plans: BP-1497-CLPJR1, and Canopy: BC-454.

Also have the Skyraider.  #^

No problems... please find 4 photos of J-Roberts Corsair style kits..

1. Original profile Corsair kit box
2. Corsair profile plan (J-Roberts)
3. Original full body Corsair kit box
4. Corsair full body plan (metal cowl job, J-Roberts)

The full-body Corsair has balsa sheeted wings, less wing area and a different J-Roberts bellcrank

The built up Corsair had sheeted wings.  The profile were fabric covered.  I still have the profile kit, but, sold the built up kit like a dummy.  DOC Holliday
