Fairey Fulmar ?
« on: February 05, 2012, 04:57:15 AM »
Attached is Dave Wallicks Fairey Fulmar Class 2 Rossi 60 powered. I never saw it fly but those that did said it was a rocket. These pictures were taken at Cleveland Junior Air Races in the very early to mid seventies. Shades of Terry Heron's Judy. Enjoy.

the fumar was designed by don gerber.dave and don were good friends.the fuse was fiberglass with a 1\2 balsa crutch.there were a 28 & 36 inch versions. i did not see don for a few years afterwards and did not ask him about them.don was a master craftsman and good guy.every time i sat and talked to him i learned something else.he is missed.    steve

Awsome model, thanks for the photos. I often wonder why more people don't build cool "one-off" stuff like that anymore. Who cares about the plaque, I'd rather have a cool model hanging on the wall. ;D

wayne i have bean lurking around for a couple of years now.i have not participated in this forum because i have not flown in compation since 1994.i i flew carrier from 1962 till 1994.after that life got in the way.during that time i built kits (avenger mauler bearcat etc).i designed a 36in guardian.sterling re designed it and it became the famous sterling guardian.the kit flew better then my original.i published two articles in flying  models, the profile kingfisher & the 15 seagull.there were other designs along the way some successful some not.what i would like to do is pass along some of what i learned over the years if you guys don't mind.  steve

Steve,  I still have the VHS video of you when I interviewed you at the nats in 1992.  If I could figure out how to make copies i would because there is much there that should be passed along. Also a public THANK YOU for coming to my need at Brodak's the evening of my deepest dispare in years.
