As designed, and if it were built "out of the box", does the Brodak Bearcat have wing or fuse mounted landing gear? You can't tell by any ad photos.

I agree with Mike, They probably should be beefed up some so they don't poke through the top of the wing after touchdown..Of course I am only speaking in reference to my probable skill level

Actually I'm building one (Brodak Bearcat) right now and should start on the wing tonight or tomorrow.  Since I am just building from plans and  sort of "free Lancing"  I won't feel to bad about changing it up some.

I can do that.  I have the crutch part of the fuselage built so far.  This is the plane the Oak question was in reference to...and I'll use Maple next time....but this guy is already put together so we'll see how long it lasts   It might end up being a bit of a brick   Thats ok though..its my second build (first was the Ringmaster I have almost finished) since I was a kid

I need to take a pic or two, but I built the fuselage and the left and right wing halfs.  I have a couple of hardwood pieces to make up to for the LE and TE stiffiners since my LE is a piece of 1/4"sq with 1/8" sheet top and bottom instead of that formed-machined tow piece affair from the brodak kit.  Once those are cut and fitted I can put the wing halves together with the right dihedral.  I cut the rudder and stab out of 1/8" plywood.  Its been a several days since I worked on it...I started a little (and I mean little) jogging routine after the kids are in bed and after that, I've been increasingly LAZY

Thanks for asking though!!  @I need to get back to it!  It might be the only Brodak Bearcat with a Mccoy .35 RC on it running on a J Roberts handle and crank  I do have a pile of Hot Rocks, I could try and learn with a couple of those like the stories of old I have read!!

Yea, its got about an 1" from the center to the tip.  I suppose some of that is accounted for in the fact that the cross section gets smaller at the tip.  The kit has some spacers you set up under the wing tips and a couple of wedges you pin down under the center TE to get it all aligned.  The bellcrank floor is 1/8" plywood and is about 6-7" long crossing the ribs 1,2,& 3 and each of those ribs has a slot cut for the bellcrank floor. The slot sits lower in the 2 and 3 ribs and is at the top of the 1 rib.  That kind of makes it easy to get it right.  I spent some time last night playing with the LE and I think that will work out fine, I just need to cut the hardwood center splice piece and put it together.  I'll try to get some pics of it this weekend.

I bought a set of Brodak Bearcat plans and started building it, but I made so many structural changes there wasn't much left but the exteranal shape.  It went OK 'til I started spearminting wid a slider.  I actually won a couple prizes before I splattered it all over my practice field.

The wing gear works great if you convert it to any "RC" torsion bar setup with a grooved spar joining the two wings.  The least of your worries.

I actually just glued the wing halves together.....I think they are square....Hope they are....hope they are... guess I need to upgrade my build area....its a tad rough
