Looks really good John. Nice detail on the canopy.

The wheel covers might not make a carrier landing but they sure look nice.

Please be sure and post the results of your first flights. New carrier fliers are far and few between these days, good for you for trying it out. Hope it flies as well as it looks.

Thanks for responce I will take a look at that yahoo site. Wheel pants are removable 2 screws on each.

Looks great! Is this the 38" span one or the 55" one? Looking at the plan in the background, doe's your model have a built-up fuse? Do the other Warbirds in this Brodak series also have built-up fuselages?

I have so many sites now to go visit that I don't even get to the racing site. Now you expect us to go to a carrier only site. The NCS site was so far behind the last time I visited, I quit going there. Sparky has a good site here and needs more support. But, that is what has bothered me thru the years, is the individuals that think their event is the only event and do not share with others. DOC Holliday

Just to clarify: Built up profile. Not a new idea - the original J-Roberts Bearcat, Corsair (no longer available) and Skyraider were constructed this way, John just carried it forward with these kits.

Ya now that I look a bit closer at it, I see it has a 55 inch wing span! Just a tad big for carrier. Should be very cool stunter tho! Mike

John, Bearcat looks great. Wish you luck with it. The Bearcats look great flying. There were a few Bearcats flying carrier in the sixty's. I saw a real one recently in Thailand. Big Airplane. Michigan guys get to see all the cats at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Hellcat, Wildcat, Bearcat and the infamous Tigercat.

The Royal Thai Air Force just had a Bearcat restored at Bethpage and shipped back to them. They flew it a couple of times but it had an engine failure and that engine was replaced with a surplus engine in which it's been flying with, rarely, since. It is not the one in the picture, but another.
The Kalamazoo Bearcat has been sold off, it used to belong to Gunther Balz before the 'Zoo. My buddies at the Planes of Fame sold their Bearcat before they ever flew it after restoration. Good insurance! It's painted in the Royal Thai silver scheme.
At the Planes of Fame air show this coming weekend the theme is Grumman Cat's, and a three ship aerobatic routine will be performed by The Horsemen but instead of the usual P-51's it'll be in F8F's.

When I landed in Thailand in March of 65 our first stop was Takhli RTAFB. Couple things I remember vividly was first the base welcome sign at base ops "Welcome to the Land of the King Cobra". I noticed Thai and Australian F86's parked on the ramp along with a couple of Bearcats in Silver. Should have paid more attention to airplanes in Thailand in 65 then beer etc. Attached is a picture of the Thai's MK14 Spitfire in silver. It was a recon model. Nice restoration, engine and all. Clipped wings and a five blade prop look cool to. I dont have a feeling on how many of the Thais museum pieces are flyable. I would love to see there SB2C or better yet there Fairey Firefly take off.
