Where to buy silk
« on: May 18, 2009, 03:00:39 PM »
I guess I'm old school, but I want to cover my T-Bird 11 in japanese silk. Sig is out for maybe months. Anyone here still use silk? Where to buy it?I tried all the local fabric stores here in Baton Rouge, but all they carry is polyester silk.

If you want the old Esaki-type silk try Aerodyne, Peck Polymers, FAI Supplies, Campbell's Custom Kits, Micro-X, any of the freeflight/old time supply places.

I have not done so myself but I have read that many modelers are happy with http://www.dharmatrading.com/
The 5mm (mm does not stand for millimeters) silk is best and they have an information section on their site that tells a lot about silk an how to ideas for the DIY.

Some Chinese Merchants stock it !

The CLOSE WEAVE uses a lot less dope than the 'Open Weave ' which LOOKS lighter .
