Well, without other suggestions, I decided to get a spread of sizes ranging from .062 to .085. I suspect some of it will work.

I suspect the most popular size would be 1/16th (or .0625). However, I prefer the 5/64th (.07812). Not quite as springy, a little stronger if you're hanging your planes by the tail wheel, or stooging.

I'm with Ward, 5/64"  is a good size for all the reasons that he stated... #^

I also use the 5/64" for all of my airplanes.  I notice that it has more spring to it in the rollout than you might think.

When using the 1/16, I always had trouble with the launcher leaning to hard on the tail wheel creating problems at release. It was reuced with the larger wire.

Hi, does he crush your wing. This is something most people have a hard time doing. I only have a few that I'll let crush my toy. Some launcher will even turn the plane in for you just to see if you can handle the challenge. I only have 1/8" landing gear on my Stiletto and to get a good launch the person has to use the finger tip method. Hey! how about the launcher that will turn loose your plane about the time you pick up the handle! Most I fly with have done this before so they know better than to let loose of the plane before the hand signal. Aren't our toys just a bunch of fun. Randy I send you some jokes, hope its cheers you up. Big question Randy did you get over your surgery you had a while back? Have a great day, Gary
