In the middle of the spring semester, I got the urge to want to start building something. My friend, now roommate is scratch building a turbine powered F-16 and that's what gave me the idea to build a new stuntship. I decided I would put together a Randy Smith Staris since it's a fairly small airplane and can fit in my car. Power for this new plane will be a PA 51 on a pipe. My target goal is to keep the plane around 55 ounces ready to fly.
I'm using Bob Hunt's lost foam wing jig after seeing how well it went together for my Thundergazer. I'm also trying out his new fully sheeted wing system as well.
So far I have a flap tapered and sanded, one cut, the rudder built, fuselage framed up and the ribs cut and sanded. Building this will probably be slow going trying to balance it between schoolwork and flying.
