im building a plane , a p-51 and heard of a guy that covered his plane useing chrome tape. i found that tape at Lowes building center, now all the questions start. he made panel lines and stuff any body ever do this? fuel proof? weight? under coat? help .

Norm Skuderin used one of these products on an original P-40. He had panels and even tiny rivets and Dzus fasteners engraved. Last time visited, it was more complete, but I don't know whether he's finished it yet. This will be my first photo post here, so we'll see how they show up:

'sorry for the photo quality. Here are the last two of Norm's P-40. Remember, it was unfinished at the time. Anyway, he was able to do some great and realistic detail. The plane is intended to fly realistically, as all of his do.

I don't know where Norm gets his props, but I'm pretty sure that it is not what he uses to fly. he has built a lot of museum quality CL planes, and has scale appearing props on them when displayed  and not flying. I'll try to remember to ask next time I see him.
