Pipe tunnel

How much of the pipe needs to be covered in the pipe tunnel (any pictures)?

I have seen planes with the pipe just out of sight when viewed from the side.  It depends on how deep the fuse is in reality.  As stated on another thread you can mold sheet balsa or carve a block to cover it.  Remember there has to be air flow over it to keep it cool.  Back where the stub comes down make the opening a little bigger area wise than the area around the pipe itself.  DOC Holliday
