painting wing root fillets without bubbles
« on: December 22, 2006, 05:51:15 AM »
HELP!  I'm at my wits end!  I made some nice wing root fillets for my new Smoothie using lite epoxy filler material and sanded them nice and smooth. Now the problem arises when I apply dope over the wing and fuse. The dope shrinks up at the fillet and pulls away from the surface making a bubble. LOOKS UGLY! No matter what I try, the results are still the same. Any suggestions???

The problem is that the fillets are hard and allow no gassing off. So you must use some sort of primer on them. Do not get them wet. Just dust the dope on. Let it dry between dusting's.

Winfred just dusts them...figuring that "overspray" will cover them as well...
