Hello Robert,
the idea for such a project is amazing. A person asks other people what to build! I have so many ideas for future construction in my head that my life will not be long enough to make these ideas reality.
However the idea for such a project is fantastic. I will not make any suggestion because I would have to name at least a dozen of interesting designs. I think the decision for such a project shouldn’t be based on personal views about airplanes from several individuals.
What I mean: the decision shouldn’t be made by preference of looks from individuals. With such a project you have a great possibility to show people how an interesting control line aerobatic airplane is designed and built. It’s a perfect means for learning. I think we can presuppose that most people know how to build a Nobler or a similar standard design ( if not then you would have to show how to build a Ringmaster. I don’t think that this is really your intention ).
An interesting project would be a design which has unusual shapes and requires different construction methods. That doesn’t mean that the design is extremely difficult to build ( for example: I would never dare to build Billy Werwage’s Thunderbolt. This would simply exceed my building skills and my patience ). But Al Rabe’s Bearcat might be a good choice. The look is different, construction requires some deviation from the norm, and it looks quite nice ( with your help I might even be tempted to build one !). Of course there are a lot of other suitable designs. Also I’m not sure whether I understood right: do you intend to design a new airplane, or do you build a known design?
I’m not suggesting the Bearcat design. I just want to suggest that for such a project some other aspects should be considered , too.
By the way - on your intended CDs, will this be movies or photos ( still shots )?
Just my two cents.
Regards, claus
