Making .008 line ends easier
« on: May 22, 2011, 06:48:36 PM »
Flying small models as I tend to do, I need to deal with teeny tiny lines.  Well they want to do the "split end" thing, and that doesn't do well trying to feed the line through a ferrule.  SO!  I got the idea of putting a drop of CA on the line shy of the split, then using the strengthening to clip the line and have it hold together.  As they sey in "Joisey"  it woiks!

An improved version is to put a drop of CA on a neutral plastic ( polyetheylene jug, cover, whatever) and dip the end of the wire in that.  Spray with fix; trim the end at an agle, and you are there!
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

I'm a glutton for punishment. I wrap them.

Dennis,
I do wrap mine but I make a thimble out of 1/16"x.014" Al tubing in lieu of an eyelet. CA on end of line should make it (have not tried it yet) easier to thread into the tubing.
