I decided to dye the canopy, something I have never tried, but have read up on it here, there and every where. Got out the Rit black dye, boiled some water, poured in the dye,  mixed it well, and installed the canopy. It seems I should have let the water cool just a tad or used a new canopy with out cutting it down to size as the full canopy is stiffer. Mine rolled up into a tube.  Got out a new SIG 9 inch canopy, installed it in the water with all the plastic still in place, much better.  Now I have a nice black dyed canopy.
So, if you read how to do something, don't wait three years before you try it without rereading the article. One part skipped and disaster awaits...
