« on: September 13, 2008, 12:37:11 PM »
Hi ,

I was wondering what the proper name for the white , high density foam for wing cutting is called ?
I just want to make sure that I have the right stuff when I order from the local building supply store .

Thanks ,

Hi guys,

Greg is correct but if you want a more finicky answer: white foam is 1 pound density expanded bead polystyrene.
Greg's "virgin" reference means the foam has been made from new polystyrene beads some insulating foam is made from recycled material which has hard place that can flaw a hotwire wing cut.

Ask the supplier for EFS grade 1 pound density foam.  This is the stuff specifically made for the "External Finishing System" used on many high-end houses that have a stucco finish.  The stuff has to meet very stringent requirements for being clean, evenly expanded, with all the beads stuck together, and minimal holes and gaps.
