Charles:
Where does the air coming in the front exit? What ESC and timer are you using? You have to have airflow over all 4 components, motor, battery, esc and timer. Wire length matters but in your case probably not too much. You might need to use the cockpit as a vent! You need "per flight" access to the battery and timer. From what I can see, and assuming you have open vents for the radial cowl, I would put the battery vertical behind the firewall, the timer under the removable hatch cover and the ESC over/under the motor mount or on a slide out tray behind the hatch.
Looking at it again I am wondering how you are going to get the battery in and out without removing the cowl?

Ken,
Thanks for the help.
If you visit the TEXACO 13 build, you will see there's a "tunnel" which starts at the motor mount, a 3" x 3" opening and exits at the cockpit. So, you guessed it, air will exit from the cockpit and from the cowling rear perimeter.
I haven't decided on an ESC or Timer yet. With my mind, I need the simplest. In another Thread, recommendations were made and I'm looking into this. You replied to that thread.
Yes, unfortunately, I'll have to remove the cowling to replace the battery. Four 4-40 bolts for this from the front of the cowling. The cowling former is removed with the cowling in place. OR! Removal of the four screws which hold the cowling to the cowling former. The first method is really easy, I took care to make sure everything lined up.
Thanks again.
