Great source for sandpaper
« on: October 19, 2006, 10:02:37 PM »
I just received my latest catalog from Klingspor Woodworking shop.
(http://www.woodworkingshop.com/  1-800-228-0000 )

For general sanding work , I use their sticky back 2 1/2" x 10 meter long 150 grit
rolls on my 24" t-bar sander, and all my special shaped blocks. This paper doesn't
load up, it cuts cleanly and consistently and it has amazingly lasted at leasted 20
times longer than any sandpaper I have ever used. I believe that it this paper was developed for furniture mfg. and commercial woodworking so it really holds up.  I also like that it peels cleanly off the sanding block.

10 meter rolls are $9.95 in 80-100-120-150-220 grits in 2 1/2" width and $17.95
in 4 1/2" width and adds 320-400 as extra available grit choices. There are also
many other roll paper choices.

Sheet paper also has many choices, for example, Klingspor "gold" flexible paper for sanding countours in 80-400 grit,  50 pk sleeves of various grit material
from 50 grit to 1200 grit.

One item that may be of interest to modelers is the "Micro-Mesh" sanding and
polishing system that starts out at 2400 grit and goes up to 12,000 grit. They
state that 12,000 leaves a scratch pattern not discernable to the human eye.
In other words "big-time shine".

They also  have bulk bargain boxes of rolls , sheet and belts that could save a few bucks.

I also bought my "System three" brand water thin epoxy finishing resin at this
store.  They have all kinds of glues and glue acessories and applicators.

This catalog reminds me of a "Micro-Mark" catalog because there are so many neat tools and accessories to check out . In fact I think that these guys are
primary distributor of the "Proxxon" brand small tools found in "Micro-Mark".

I just thought I would share what I found because it doesn't hurt to have extra
sources for stuff to build planes. Check these guys out.

My health has improved to the point that the doc has released me to be more
active so I will be judging on saturday at the Huntersville contest and I hope
to see and talk with all the Stunt Hanger folks that attend our 25th anniversary
celebration.
                                                                     Happy flying and smooth landings,
                                                                              Pat Robinson

Glad you're back Pat. I agree strongly with everything you said about Klingspor. Really good products at excellent prices, across the board. And the PROXXON Detail Sander is a great tool, too.
