fuselage warp question
« on: September 07, 2009, 05:28:29 AM »
I have a Giant Stunt Master that I am building now, but the fuselage has a slight warp. It is an outside warp which if you have to have a warp this one is the one to have. Meaning that if you are looking at the plane from the front to rear, the warp moves to the left, which would pull the plane to the outside of the circle and not to the inside. It is approx. 3/16 inch. If you lay the fuselage on its side and push down where the engine mounts are, then the very back of the fuselage rises 3/16 off the table.
My question is..... is there any way that this warp can be fixed? If not I am wondering if the speed of the plane (along with a slight outside pitch of the rudder) will pull it straight.
Please help with information if you can
Thanks
Raby

Being a profile there are several ways: If you cover it with plastic film you can bend against the warp and tighten the covering on the opposite side until straight. You can also soak in amonia and bend against the warp till your slightly bent the other way and let it dry. You can steam and bend against the warp till straight. Finally you can just say the heck with it and go as is since it's to the outside.

Or, sand a taper into the outboard/rear portion of the fuse only.   H^^

Wet the "left" side. Should expand.
