...Flight Streak..
« on: July 12, 2012, 10:23:56 AM »

I am looking to build a Flight Streak wing, and need a full set of plans for this project.
Where can I pick up a set of these plans?
   Thanks a lot... y1

Go to the Brodak site and type in flite streak plans.   It shows the plans at $10.00.   You may also find the rib sets there too.   A lot of stuff to look at.  The kit price looks reasonable.   H^^

Thanks Doc, I was thinkin along those lines, but don't know what kind of l/e cutout that they have on those ribs.
Are they like a birds mouth (on a 45 degree angle) or straight up and down like a 1/4x3/4 plank.
Do you know if you can see the plans for this info?
Again thanks for the heads up... ::)

Randy Smith at Aero Products also sells full size plans and I think RSM sells laser cut ribs.

Hi Gil,
The plans that I have, show two oblong strips glued together with the ribs, shaped to suit. Getting a decent LE profile from this, is a lot of hard work! I assume that the LE was done this way, to provide a bullet proof construction for combat. If I build any more I shall use a simple squre LE and sheet in the front section. I am sure this is plenty strong enough for a knockabout stunt model and one hell of a lot less work!

Regards,

Andrew.

Hi Brother Gil,

I believe another option is Barry Baxter.  Pretty sure the LE on his plans are similar to the actual configuration used by George A.  It is neither a bird's mouth style nor a flat sheet LE.  The ribs are undercut to accept a plank on the top and bottom at about a 45* angle, maybe less.

The Brodak Streak uses conventional wing construction. A half inch square leading edge set into a rib cutout. Corner facing front rounded to shape. The Brodak Flite Streak uses George's original construction idea. Dagger ribs. Two piece leading edge etc. (Words fail me. Plans are clear enough.) Airfoils are pretty much the same.

Bootlegger,

Did you ever get that Flite Streak wing built?
